Deciding whether to build a Dot Net application or a Power Shell script

Hello,

We have a robust Dot Net development environment and a lot of Dot Net experience. On the other hand, we are novices at Power Shell. Given our expertise in Dot Net, we would prefer to always use this, rather than Power Shell, but is there any guidance as to whether there are certain tasks that must be undertaken in Power Shell rather than, for example, Dot Net? (Please ignore the obvious fact that using Power Shell would require a greater learning curve for us.) Dot Net developers that I’ve spoken with have indicated that anything that you can do in Power Shell you can do in Dot Net, and I would now like to see whether Power Shell users would agree with this.

(To make this question a bit more tangible, we are looking to write a small app which will email me when the server's disk space is more than 90% full.)

Thanks for your feedback.

Keith
