DBA + PowerShell = Why?

I have been taught that a DBA use PowerShell in the following list:

1. Creating a SQL Server database inventory
2. Listing installed hotfixes and service packs
3. Listing running/blocking processes
4. Killing a blocking process
5. Checking disk space usage
6. Setting up WMI Server event alerts
7. Executing a SQL query to multiple servers
8. Reorganizing/rebuilding an index
9. Running DBCC commands

I dont understand in each point why you need to do it?
If you havea real based example in worklife to apply the one or many of the list it would be better to understand.
